Cognitive distortions are automatic, often irrational thought patterns that distort how we perceive ourselves, others, and situations. They fuel self-doubt, anxiety, and poor decisions, and most of the time, we don’t even realise we’re doing it.

Common examples:

Mental Filter: β€œI got great feedback, but all I can think about is that one critical comment.”

Mind-Reading: β€œShe hasn’t replied β€” she must be annoyed with me.”

Catastrophising: β€œI made a mistake in that email. Now everyone will think I’m useless.”

Black & White Thinking: β€œIf I’m not perfect, I’m a failure.”
